Full Description
Aling-Aling is actually a group of four waterfalls set close together in the Buleleng hills, and the site has become known for being more hands-on than most Bali waterfalls. Alongside the main viewing area, guides run natural rock slides and cliff jumps of varying heights into the plunge pools below.
A guide is required for the jumping and sliding sections, and safety briefings are given before each. The trek between the falls involves steps and uneven ground, so proper footwear helps. Swimming at the base of the main falls is possible without doing the jumps.
Our Review
Most Bali waterfalls are something you look at. Aling-Aling is one you get into: four falls set close together, with guided cliff jumps and natural rock slides into the pools below.
A guide is mandatory for the jumping and sliding, which reads as the right call rather than an upsell. You can also skip every jump and simply swim at the base of the main falls, and nobody pushes. The trek between the falls involves steep steps and uneven ground, so this is not a stop you do in sandals. We think the honest question is whether you actually want the adrenaline version, because if not, there are gentler falls with less walking.
