This ticket covers entry to Uluwatu Temple and a seat at the Kecak fire dance performed on the cliffside grounds above the Indian Ocean. The temple itself dates back roughly a thousand years and is one of Bali's key sea temples, perched along dramatic limestone cliffs.
The Kecak performance is unusual in that it has no instruments, the rhythm comes entirely from a large group of men chanting and moving in unison. The dance acts out part of the Ramayana epic, following Rama and Sinta's story through conflict with the demon king Ravana and the intervention of a monkey army, set against the ocean and sunset behind the stage.
Because the show draws a large crowd, tickets are arranged in advance to skip the queue at the gate. Depending on the option booked, transport and a guided walk through the temple grounds, where long-tailed macaques are a common sight, can be included as well.

Nine dollars for a thousand-year-old sea temple on the limestone cliffs, plus a seat at the Kecak on the clifftop stage with the ocean and the sunset behind it. On price alone it is one of the better decisions in the south.

Tickets are arranged ahead to skip the queue at the gate, which matters because the crowd is large. Long-tailed macaques are common in the grounds, so keep sunglasses and phones secured. We would book the earlier session and walk the temple before the show.
