Intimate private dining venue atop the cliffside in Uluwatu
Perched atop the Uluwatu cliffside, Jumeirah Bali expands its repertoire of dining destinations as the resort unveils Mantra. Nestled within the underground space of AKASA Restaurant & Bar, Mantra redefines private dining with refined gastronomy and immersive wine pairings.
The name Mantra takes inspiration from the ancient Sanskrit word, meaning a sacred expression of intent. Hidden beneath the natural contours of the cliffside, Mantra boasts an immersive dining experience that combines storytelling, craftsmanship, and discovery in a secluded setting.
The wine program showcases a variety of distinguished labels, curated by Sommelier Suyanto, meticulously paired with a tasting menu crafted by Chef Joan Achour. The culinary creations reflect French flavors with a local touch, presenting seasonal ingredients that honor heritage and creativity.

Plan your Uluwatu stay around Mantra
Mantra sits in Uluwatu, so start with hotel prices and pick a base near the surf or the temple end of the Bukit. Then look at activity packages, since the sunset Kecak dance and the reef surf breaks are easy to add to the trip. Finally, price a car: the beaches are a drive apart and taxis are scarce on the Bukit. The three links below go straight to each.
An underground room beneath AKASA at Jumeirah Bali, built for private dining on the Uluwatu cliffs. The setting is the opposite of what Uluwatu usually sells, which is a view.
The format is a chef's tasting menu with wine pairings, French technique against local ingredients. It is small, expensive and requires planning rather than a walk-in. This is not a casual dinner and does not try to be. We would save it for an occasion that justifies both the cost and the drive out to the Bukit.
