good to know before you plan

September gives Seminyak everything August had except the pressure. The sunsets are still dependable, the beach clubs still run properly, and the restaurants are still doing what they do.

Rates fall steadily through the month, landing around $150 to $260 per person for the week, and the notice needed for a daybed falls with them. A full week makes sense now in a way it does not in August, because you are no longer paying peak rates for the days you spend doing very little. If we were booking one Seminyak week a year, it would be the last one in September.

Bali in September: A 7-Day Seminyak and Canggu Itinerary

September gives Seminyak everything August had except the pressure. The sunsets are still dependable, the beach clubs are still running properly, and the restaurants are still doing what they do. What has gone is the need to book everything weeks ahead, and the traffic that made the coast road unusable in the late afternoon.

Prices come down through the month as the school holidays finish, which means the room that was at its annual peak in mid August can be a third cheaper by late September for identical weather. If your dates are flexible, this is the single best moment to do the beach club version of Bali.

Week 4

day by day

Seminyak base, and Canggu is worth a day again now that the road has cleared. Go in the morning either way.

  • Day 1: Arrive, check in, straight down for sunset.

  • Day 2: Full beach club day. In September you can take the bed on the day again.

  • Day 3: Canggu. The road is quick again, so make a proper morning of Berawa and the cafes.

  • Day 4: Spa, then the restaurant that needed three weeks of notice in August.

  • Day 5: Tanah Lot at sunset, an easy drive this month.

  • Day 6: Uluwatu day trip, or a cooking class.

  • Day 7: Slow morning, late checkout, airport.

frequently asked questions

What is the weather like in Seminyak in September?

Dry, warm and clear, with the wind dropping from its August peak. Rain is uncommon, humidity is comfortable, and temperatures sit around 27 to 31 degrees. Sunsets remain dependable almost every evening, and the calmer sea makes the beach more pleasant than in the windiest months.

When do Bali prices drop after high season?

From the start of September, and they keep falling through the month as the northern hemisphere and Australian school holidays end. The second half of September is noticeably cheaper than the first. Rates stay moderate through October and reach their yearly low in November, though the weather turns through that period.

Do you still need to book beach clubs in September?

For a front-row daybed at the most popular clubs and at weekends, a call ahead is still sensible. Outside that, September availability is much better than July and August and same-day bookings usually work. Minimum spends still apply, though they are often lower once high season ends.
