Make Grand Istana Rama Hotel your base for Kuta
Start with Grand Istana Rama Hotel's live prices for your dates, since room rates in Kuta swing with the season. Then look at activity packages, since a surf lesson and a day at Waterbom are easy to add once your base is set. Finally, price a car: the strip is walkable, but a car opens up the run south to Uluwatu. The three links below go straight to each.

our review
One of the few Kuta hotels where the beach really is across the path rather than a walk away. Grand Istana Rama puts you steps from the sand, with Kuta Square and Legian's bars close behind.
69 Bar and Resto looks over Kuta Beach and does Italian and seafood, Tequila Bar runs sunset DJ sets, and Warunk Cuci Mata handles local food. There is a pool with a sunken bar, plus weekly yoga and cultural activities. Rooms are unremarkable but properly equipped, with tea and coffee, a mini-bar and a safe. This is central Kuta at its most central, which is either exactly what you came for or the thing you will complain about. We would not book it hoping for quiet.
