The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary sits at the southern end of Jalan Monkey Forest, a short walk from the centre of Ubud. Paved paths run through a valley of tall banyan trees, past temples that belong to the village, while long-tailed macaques move freely through the canopy, along the walls and across the paths.
The sanctuary is run by the village as both a conservation area and a working temple complex. Entry is IDR 130,000 for adults and IDR 100,000 for children. The gates open at 9am and close at 6pm, with last entry at 5pm, and food and drink cannot be carried inside.
