Full Description
The garden covers a large area of highland forest and cultivated collections at around 1,200-1,500 metres, which is why the air here is cool enough to need a jacket in the morning. Collections include orchids, ferns, bamboo and medicinal plants, laid out along roads and paths that you can drive as well as walk.
It is the natural pairing with Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, both sit at Candikuning within a few minutes of each other, and together they fill a Bedugul day without any further driving.
Our Review
Bring a jacket. The garden sits at 1,200 to 1,500 metres and the morning air genuinely needs one, which catches out people who drove up from a beach the same day.
You can drive between the sections rather than walk the whole thing, which makes it workable with small children or in heat. Ulun Danu Beratan is a few minutes away at Candikuning and the Treetop Adventure Park is inside these same grounds, so the three together fill a Bedugul day without getting back on the road. We come early, because cloud tends to settle over the highlands by the afternoon.
